Como es habitual por estas fechas, los medios especializados comienzan a ofrecernos listas de lo mejor del año a punto de terminar, la histórica revista NME, actualmente famosa por sus descubrimientos, creaciones y hipérboles del indie británico más comercial, ha sido uno de los primeros en hacer la lista de los mejores álbumes del año.
Este año la sorpresa viene en el número uno, con el "Hidden" de These New Puritans, un grupo que no es para nada superventas en el Reino Unido, y que no se caracteriza por copar listas como ésta.
Entre los mejores encontramos a pesos pesados como Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, Grinderman, LCD Soundsystem o MGMT; a nombres muy de la linea editorial de NME como Interpol, The Drums, Gorillaz o Paul Weller, incluso nombres más Pirchfork como Male Bonding, Broken Social Scene, Mount Kimbie, Deerhunter, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti o Best Coast.
